Importance of safety gloves during pandemic

Importance of safety gloves at the workplace/Job site

Wearing safety gloves while on the job at a worksite has always been important, but nowadays it’s more important than ever. The pandemic has changed the way that we all live and work, some of the most significant of these changes involve cleanliness. Not only do safety gloves help keep you protected from sharp objects at work, but they also help keep you safe from hostile microbes, germs, and viruses. Here’s why wearing safety gloves at the workplace is imperative.

The May Ways That You Can Injure Your Hands at Work

There is an almost infinite variety of ways that your hands could be injured on the job. Hands can be punctured, ripped, crushed, and even melted. You can also sustain chemical damage if harmful chemicals are absorbed into the flesh.

You might be surprised to know that your hands can be severely burned by something as simple and commonly used as cement! As a substance, wet cement has a high pH level, making it highly alkaline. Wet cement can cause painful burns on your hands and it can even burn your eyes if you’re not wearing safety goggles. Strangely enough, burns resulting from working with wet cement might not actually surface until a few days after having contact with wet cement.

Of course, wet cement isn’t the only substance that can give you a nasty chemical burn. There are tons of different liquids and gases that can burn your hands to the point that you might not be able to work with them ever again. A lot of people don’t think about how important it is to wear safety gloves on the job until it’s too late. Don’t be one of those people!

Hand Injuries Are a Common Occurrence, More Common Than You Think

Another reason why it’s so important to wear safety gloves on the job is because hand-related injuries are much more common than you might think. Thousands of workers suffer from hand-related injuries every single day and if you think that it’ll never happen to you, think again. No matter how careful or how smart you think you are, there’s always a chance that you could injure your hands at work. Those of you who work in factories, construction, or work as a mechanic are especially at risk and should always wear a pair of safety gloves when you’re working.

A Single Hand Injury Could Put You Out of Work, Permanently

A lot of people think that hand injuries are relatively harmless and don’t take them very seriously. If your job involves working with your hands, you should take the risk of a hand injury very seriously.

A man whose entire career has revolved around the construction industry can be put out of a job for life if he injures his hands at work. People who have absolutely no experience other than jobs that involve working with their hands could lose everything if those hands are injured which is why you should always wear safety gloves at the job site. All it takes is one mistake to throw your life off course and watch your career go up in flames. If your work depends on your hands and those hands become injured, your whole future can slip through your fingers, literally.

You owe it to yourself and to your family to make an effort to wear safety gloves at work. How would you explain the fact that you lost your job to your wife and children all because you didn’t wear something as simple as safety gloves?

It Is a Pandemic You Know

They don’t call it a pandemic for nothing. Despite how you might feel about the COVID-19, the risks are very real and you need to protect yourself, especially when you’re at work.

COVID aside, there are germs and hostile microbes everywhere. Every surface that touch is a potential danger and if your job involves sharing tools, the risks are even higher. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to damage your hands to lose your job. In many cases, all that you have to do to lose your job is get sick. You can easily contract any number of debilitating illnesses, including COVID-19 just by touching infected surfaces. Folks wearing safety gloves at work are not at risk and don’t have to worry about getting sick from topical exposure by touching something.

Many employers are somewhat unforgiving when it comes to employees needing to take time off of work because they got themselves sick. If an illness that you literally picked up by touching an infected surface at the job site requires two weeks or even one week of leave to recover, your employer might just decide that it would be more efficient to have you replaced.

Remember, anything can happen, safety gloves can help protect you from so many work-related dangers, there’s no reason not to wear them!
